WEIR WELCOMES JOBS BOOST FOR NORTH DOWN

 “I am delighted by the announcement today by Environment Minister Edwin Poots of the approval of Planning Permission for the proposed new Sainsburys in Balloo Retail Park in Bangor. This is a significant boost to the local economy and will bring 350 new jobs to North Down. This is particularly important at this time of economic recession. I believe that this development will be complementary to the existing retail mix within Bangor, and will play an important role in helping to retain spend within the North Down area, as well as bringing in additional customers from the surrounding area. 

This announcement also shows the commitment of the Executive in general, and the Environment Minister in particular to putting the economy top of the agenda, and is a practical outworking of the commitment to a pro business agenda and a determination to ensure that economic projects are dealt with swiftly and effectively. This decision will be welcomed throughout North Down by prospective employees and customers alike.”
