DUP North Down MLA Peter Weir has condemned damage caused by vandals to Rathmore Primary School in Bangor. He was commenting after graffiti was sprayed on a number of exterior walls and windows of the school.
Speaking today Mr Weir said, ‘I’ve been made aware that as pupils and teachers arrived at Rathmore Primary School they were greeted with the terrible sight of graffiti sprayed on a number of walls and windows around the school. An attack like this on school property is obviously very distressing for everyone associated with Rathmore and it some will require a great deal of effort to remove.
The nature of some of the graffiti is also distressing for young children and I would hope that anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity around the school over the weekend will pass that information to the Police. I would hope that whoever is responsible for this wanton act of vandalism can be caught and brought to justice as soon as possible. This kind of vandalism is not just an attack on the school buildings, but on the entire community involved with the school.’ |
