North Down DUP MLA Councillor Peter Weir MLA today welcomed a group of young farmers from the Holywood Young Farmers Club for a tour of Parliament Buildings at Stormont. Speaking following the visit the DUP MLA said:
"It was with great pleasure that I welcomed a group from the Holywood Young Farmers Club to Stormont for a tour of Parliament Buildings. I think it is incredibly important for Parliament Buildings to be accessible to everyone living in our communities, allowing for an understanding of the work of The Northern Ireland Assembly by the people who have asked us to represent them.

With the agricultural industry playing such an important role in the Northern Ireland economy it is important to engage with and educate the future generations of farmers on where legislation affecting their industry is made. It is important for the Assembly to be open and transparent to the public, being accessible for these community groups to be able to come and learn about the work of the Assembly.” |
