WEIR WELCOMES FIGHTBACK BY SPRINGFIELD RESIDENTS
"Having attended the meeting organised by the Springfield Road residents, and attended by the Police, Town Centre Manager and local representatives, I would like to commend local Springfield residents for their determined and positive response to the problem that has been thrust upon them. They have been subject to criminal damage, particularly to cars, graffiti and loutish and anti-social behaviour. This is largely the result of drunken people on weekends when the pubs and clubs close.
There is however a clear determination by both residents and the police to combat this criminal behaviour, and last night the community united behind taking the first steps in forming a Neighbourhood Watch. There is a clear message going out to those involved in this criminal behaviour from Springfield, namely residents will not tolerate your behaviour any more, and there will be no hiding place for criminals, who will face the full rigour of the law."
